New Apps To Help Horse Breeders

Horse Breeding Calculator and Horse Tracker are both built for those in the breeding business and their primary goal is to quickly give you due dates for your maresAmidst all the horse games, horse race betting apps and horse wallpapers that flood Google Play and AppStore these days you can find a few good apps useful to horse owners. The three listed here are good for breeders.

Horse Breeding Calculator and Horse Tracker are both built for those in the breeding business and their primary goal is to quickly give you due dates for your mares. It’s as simple as entering the breeding date and saving the horse. Both also give you dates for pregnancy checks – Palpation for Horse Breeding Calculator at about 60 days and a Blood Draw Date for Horse Tracker at about 72 days. So clearly they were developed for the US or European markets. Nice to have a tool in your pocket though that gives you an instant due date.

Horse Tracker also allows you to track your mare’s cycle prior to breeding so you can know when she is next due in season. And you can upload her pic and record the stallion she was bred to as well.

In both cases it would be great to see a display of the current number of days she is in foal whenever you open the app. Hopefully this will appear with future updates. And dates for Scans at 16 days and 45 days would also be handy.

There are lots of horse weight estimators available for download onto your smart phone, I think all horse owners should have one; knowing your horse’s weight is just one essential component of horse ownership.

The Horse Weight/Height Calculator is a further useful tool as it also allows studs to estimate the adult height of their young horses using the “string measurement” of the front leg.The Horse Weight/Height Calculator is a further useful tool as it also allows studs to estimate the adult height of their young horses using the “string measurement” of the front leg. Essentially, get a bit of string and run it up the front of the horse’s leg from coronet to knee, following the contour of their leg. Measure the length in inches. Type it into the app to get the horse’s mature height in hands. The only real drawback about this app is that, despite giving weights in kilos you have to enter the weight measurements (length and girth) in inches!

All three are on Android, I am betting they are available for iPhone as well.

All are free.

Horse Breeding Calculator comes in Cattle, Dog, Rabbit and Cat versions

Horse Tracker comes in Cattle and Goat versions. All are Free or 0.99 for Ad Free versions.
