Horse Information - Meurer Horsemanship

James Meurer is an expert at horse communication, horsemanship training and helping ownersto develop a willing partnership with their horses.

His methods are based on humane principles and are effective because they are formed byunderstanding the horse’s language and psychology.

James grew up working with horses on his family’s property in southern New South Wales. As achild he discovered a passion for communicating with horses and through his curiosity learnta lot about horsemanship by simply learning from the horses themselves. James’s knowledgewas also acquired through great teachers with vast experience and James has been luckyenough to have worked with and learnt from some of the best. Two of the most influentialhorsemen in James’ life are Rob Horne and the internationally renowned Horseman MontyRoberts.

James worked alongside Rob Horne at Gai Waterhouse’s Randwick stables. They worked withremedial horses and the education of young horses and were involved in educating stablestaff about safe handling practices. James would also spend great lengths of time at Rob’straining facility learning from Rob’s wealth of knowledge and vast experience.

While working for Gai, James would join Monty Roberts on his Australian tours and wasinstrumental in having stock whips banned from behind the race barriers. His relationshipwith Monty grew and James was asked by Monty to ‘shadow’ him around the world. He thenspent a year travelling extensively throughout the U.S, Europe and the UK. When not on tourJames lived at Monty’s property and helped run the racing stable, western riding stable andthe training school.

Back in Australia James has held numerous horsemanship clinics, private lessons and has runthe starting (breaking-in) and horse educational facility for one of Sydney’s majorthoroughbred facilities delivering large numbers of young racehorses to their trainer in arelaxed willing manner.

James is now committed to helping horses and people achieve their goals in order to achievemore harmonious relationships between horse and people based on safety, competence and fun.James is now working in partnership with Andrew Forsyth, a video producer specialising inInternet based training and DVD production.
