Introducing The SaddleChariot

SaddleChariot

If you haven’t seen the SaddleChariot yet, they look like a huge amount of fun. All I can say is Iwant one.

I want one just for the fun of it and I want one because I reckon it would be a great way to do some work around thefarm, like harrowing paddocks or dragging up dead wood for chopping.

The SaddleChariot is exactly what it says, a small, very sturdy chariot with a post and seat to lean against.

What’s really great about it though is the instructions it comes with: "If you are worried, step off, pullripcord."

Now I know that this has made you just go “What the ... ?!”

SaddleChariotThe SaddleChariot has a unique quick release safety feature, demonstrated in the video snippet below. Ifyou feel unsafe, you simply step off backwards and pull a ripcord which instantly disengages the chariot from thehorse. Granted your horse is now free to take off where it wants but it will not be dragging a wildly bouncing cartand flailing passenger with it. This also means less dragging clattering scary thing to egg your horse on.

I carriage drive. And I’ve had a couple of scary scrapes – one that involved ending up in someone’s front garden –and an out of control horse with a wagon attached is a frightening thing.

Master-driver John Patterson once told me an out of control horse can do a lot of damage. Out of control horses anda carriage can wreak devastation.

So, the SaddleChariot is a big improvement in that area.

SaddleChariotIt’s also a bit of an all terrain vehicle! The thick rubber tyres handle everything from road surfaces tothick mud to creeks to the beach which makes it FUN!

I would love to include every video I watched today but if you search for SaddleChariot on YouTube.com you’ll findthem all.

I’ve mentioned that I reckon it would be good for farm work. One of its many features is that you can attach nearlyany kind of trailable object on the back ... there was a photo I saw of someone who attached their wheelchair anddrove that way; another was a cart for collecting firewood; another was a harrow. I would say that aspect of it isonly as limited as your imagination.

I don’t expect we’ll see this little go anywhere vehicle in the competition arena, this unit is really built for twopurposes – work and play.

SaddleChariotThe inventor has had his share of run-ins with the British equestrian establishment and I feel it has lefthim somewhat bitter. But I think this product is so good that it deserves to have the word spread. I also, strongly, strongly believe the saddle chariot probably falls into its own unique category and market so to hell withestablishment snobbery!

This is for people who want to have fun with their horses. And for people who want to work their horses.

And I want one!

SaddleChariot’s are available for all size of horse. They are made in the UK (and only available from there at themoment so someone please take the business initiative and start importing them!)
