This is my new product of the week because it’s super simple and will helpmake your horse property safer.

The product – glow discs – is so simple in design it’s almost mind boggling. Sturdy, rounddiscs that glow in the dark which can be easily and quickly fixed to fence posts, buildingcorners, gates and anything else you can think of.

David, of Gazer Glow Vision, tells me “they will glow all night.”

David has his own story. Bashed into a coma a number of years ago he has spent three yearslearning to walk, talk, drive and look after himself again. With an acquired brain injury hehas lost the heavy machinery licences he once held and which he once used to make aliving.

Rather than feeling sorry for himself David has picked up and started his own smallbusiness, Gazer Glow Vision, which specialises in glow in the dark safety products.

Of these the Glow Discs really caught my attention. They are ideally suitedfor horse properties particularly ones where staff are working early hours – such as racing– or all night – such as studs in foaling season.

The glow discs can easily light up laneways, be used to identify gates, or highlightbuilding corners that might otherwise be hidden in the dark.

They are also very reasonably priced at just $5 per disc (+ postage).

David has a range of other glow in the dark safety products suited to horses so ask him for a product list. Some of them include glow-numbers (for gates, stables etc) and “fish attractors” – basically a 5cm glowing rod with a hole at each end. As the packaging says they are also suited to key chains, boats, caravans etc and I think they would also be great for horse floats or even placed on your horse’s halter – find your horse in a ten acre paddock in the pitch dark. They are light weight but sturdy and would not catch on anything thus also safe for your horse to wear.
