Horseyard Surveys

HorseYard is running a series of surveys and we'll be updating this page with new surveys regularly. The surveys cover everything from HorseYard Site function to Horse Welfare to Equine Current Affairs and more! So check back regularly, get involved and have your say!

Horse Identification - There has been the occassional talk over the last few years about introducing a National Horse Identification System. We'd like to know whether you think this is a good idea and what that system should be.

Signs of Foaling - There is a lot of information available about the signs of impending foaling in mares and many statements like “most mares ...”. We thought it would be interesting and informative to find out some actual percentages. Eg. what percentage of mares wax up? What percentage of mares foal at night?

With foaling season upon us we thought it would be great to ask mare owners to watch their mares leading up to foaling and ask them to fill out this survey once their mare has foaled. Data will be collated and made freely available for everyone’s benefit.
